Our Top Tips for Spring Cleaning Your Home

When it comes to spring, not only do you get warming weather and nice showers, but you also get the chance to clean your home!

While cleaning isn’t always everyone’s favorite thing, spring cleaning  can be a really nice way to come into the season and deal with all the clutter and dust that you accumulated over the winter.

It’s also a time to change things out and make sure that you’re refreshing and renewing your home for another busy year.

Now is the time to get into the details and really make sure that you are not only surface cleaning, but deep cleaning too. It’s the perfect time to clean furniture, fabrics, and more.

Spring cleaning is all about ushering spring in! Now is the time to open up those doors and windows and let the fresh air and sunshine in. If you have some favorite music that you like to listen to, put it on! Get in the mood and have fun with it.

One way that you might want to tackle your spring cleaning is to go room by room. It is a pretty efficient way to do things. If you want to put things off a bit, you can tackle things one by one. For instance, you can dust your entire home, then vacuum and mop, and then get to the bigger projects. It’s up to you, but having a plan is usually good because that way you can run out and buy any additional cleaning supplies or appliances that you might need.

Here’s a quick list of things you may want to tackle in your spring cleaning process

  • Replacing air conditioner or furnace filters
  • Dust your home entirely
  • Move furniture, then vacuum and mop
  • Clean up any extra leaves or debris around the yard
  • Beat your rugs and air them out outside
  • Use an attachment to vacuum ceiling corners to get rid of spare spiderwebs
  • If you run out of tasks or want to procrastinate on other spring cleaning things, tackle your garage– either your garage will get more organized or you’ll find the will to do those other tasks instead
  • Consider throwing a tag sale or garage sale if you have too many things that you would be willing to donate (then donate the rest or give them away after)
  • Throw a fresh doormat on the interior and the exterior

Our Top Tips

  • Go grocery shopping ahead of time. Get your mops, your paper towels, your scrubbers, cleaners– whatever you need to get.
  • Take breaks frequently and don’t forget to hydrate and eat. Cleaning on an empty stomach or when you could use some water may make you light headed.
  • Plan something special as a result of doing all this spring cleaning. Whether it’s buying yourself a bottle of wine or your favorite pint of ice cream or going to the movies, treat yourself!
  • Make a list, have a plan, then execute.
  • Have fun with it. Don’t push yourself and segment out time to get it done, breaking it up however you like.
